Women Education

“Education ls light.“ It removes ignorance and makes skilled and productive. Now education is everyone's basic need. Both males and females have a fundamental right to get education. In this competitive modern age. education is considered the first and foremost factor of development. Development without women’s active participation can not be successful and sustainable. So modem governments are giving priority to women education.

Donors and philanthropists in also offering their benevolent service in the field of women education mostly in backward communities. Despite many efforts. the level of women education is still poor in developing countries like ours. Literacy for females is much lower than that for males. It is simply because females get lesser opportunities of education. Various factors such as superstition. discriminatory traditions. unfair social norms and values have discouraged girls and women from getting equally educated. Though they go to school and college, they cannot perform well because they are preoccupied with the domestic drudgery.

For similar reasons. dropout and failure rates are often high among female students. The system of early marriage has spoiled the time of education of many girls. Even those few educated are not getting equal opportunities as males to utilize their knowledge and skill. Poor education among women is a main cause of social backwardness. rapid population growth and unsustainable development. It is rightly said that to educate a woman is to educate the whole family. Research in many countries shows that if their mother is well educated, children will be healthier and better-fed; they will perform better at school. and will be sent to school more regularly to a higher level.

The household will have a higher living standard as the mother may also be able to take training and cam money in a local or cottage enterprise, which they spend for the good of the whole family. From such households it is also easy to produce the skilled manpower, both men and women that the country needs at every level and in every sector. 80 education must be utilized as the best tool of women empowerment. Women have proved that they can perform equally well as their male counterparts if they are educated and given chances. So it is urgent to prioritize and encourage women education in all levels. Girls like boys should be sent to school.

Parents must know the value of their daughters’ education. They must be encouraged to invest more importantly in their daughters’ education than in their dowry. Above all every girl or woman must try to exploit every possible means and resources available to acquire education. When they are educated and skilled, they can compete, in real sense, with males in every field. The discrimination on sex will gradually end and the explosive population growth rates will be controlled. This will bring positive impact on the nation’s overall development process. That’s why it is time to make every possible effort by individual, community and governmental level to contribute to the expansion and promotion of women education.
