Nepal is yet to realize the potentiality of tourism to its full scale. Facilities such as that of hotels, lodges, transport and communication should reach even the remotest part of the countxy where tourism is possible. Tourist activities in Nepal are quite limited. Standard facilities and interesting activities for tourists should be made available so that their stay can be lengthened, Likewise, we should protect our valuable natural and cultural heritages from pollution and from damage and destructions. Reasonable profit should go to the village people, too. At the same time, we also have to make tourist industry sustainable.

Similarly, Nepalese workforce involved in tourism is largely uneducated, untrained and unskilled. Therefore, we have to produce highly skilled and trained manpower to provide standard and warm services for tourists. Ordinary people in Nepal are not well trained on hospitality behavior either. They should be made very polite, helpful and tolerant to their guests. Above all tourists in Nepal are not very safe. Their turnout was alarmingly low during the ten-year Maoists insurgency and Madhesh Aandolan following the promulgation of the current constitution. At least tourists should always be treated as a zone of peace.

Pollution is alarmingly increasing in Nepal. Code of conduct of cleanliness and standards of services should be enforced. Overcrowding in limited tourist areas can be prevented if new tourist areas are opened. Likewise, media, diplomatic agencies abroad as well as government departments should actively publicize Nepal’s specialities and attractions. Private investment should be encouraged in both constructing infrastructures and operating tourism industry. Above all, careful planning is needed also for curbing the negative effects of tourism such as pollution. undue influence on community life and criminal growths and promoting the business.
